Mausoleum of Moulay Idriss II
The Mausoleum of Moulay Idriss II is the holiest site in Fes, housing the tomb of the city's founder from the 9th century. It is considered a place of baraka (blessing) and is visited by Moroccans for prayer and blessing. The mausoleum is decorated with zellige, brass, and carved wood. Non-Muslims cannot enter but can glimpse inside from the entrance. The area around the shrine was historically a sanctuary for criminals and debtors.
