Jannat al-Baqi Cemetery
Jannat al-Baqi is the oldest and first Islamic cemetery in Medina, founded by Prophet Muhammad. It contains the remains of over 10,000 companions and family members of the Prophet, including his wives, daughters, grandson Hassan, and Uthman ibn Affan. Spanning approximately 175,000 square meters (43 acres), the cemetery is over 1,400 years old. In 1925, all domes and structures over graves were demolished, leaving a flat field with unmarked graves. Visitors access via Al-Salam Gate after Fajr and Asr prayers.
