Agdal Gardens
Agdal Gardens are the oldest gardens of Marrakech, founded in 1157 by Almohad Caliph Abd al-Mu'min at the same time as the Menara Gardens. They extend over a larger area than Menara and contain more varied vegetation including olive, pomegranate, and orange trees. They include two large water basins, the largest 'Es Sala' which was used to train soldiers to swim for crossing the Strait of Gibraltar. Listed as UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1985. Open to the public only on Fridays and Sundays.
