The Monument to Stefan cel Mare (Stephen the Great) is Chisinau's most iconic statue and a symbol of Moldovan national identity. Created by sculptor Alexandru Plamadeala and unveiled in 1928, the bronze statue depicts the medieval prince holding a cross and sword. Standing at the main entrance to the Central Park, it serves as a gathering point for national celebrations and protests.
