Jeronimos Monastery is a UNESCO World Heritage masterpiece of Manueline architecture, built in the 16th century to commemorate Vasco da Gamas voyage to India. The ornate cloisters feature intricate stone carvings. The church contains the tombs of Vasco da Gama and poet Luis de Camoes.
