Zytglogge Clock Tower

The Zytglogge (Time Bell) is Bern most iconic landmark, a medieval clock tower that has been keeping time since 1530. Originally built as a city gate in the early 13th century, it features a remarkable astronomical clock with moving figures including bears, a jester, and a golden rooster that perform a show minutes before each hour. The name means Time Bell in Bernese German dialect.
