Zamzam Well
Zamzam Well is a sacred water source located 20 meters east of the Kaaba. It is believed to have sprung over 4,000 years ago when Angel Jibreel struck the ground to save Hajar and her son Ismail from thirst. The well is approximately 31 meters deep and has never dried up despite millions of pilgrims drinking from it annually. Water is available through dispensers and fountains throughout the mosque, as direct access to the well has been closed for expansion. The King Abdullah Zamzam Water Project purifies and distributes the water through a modern facility.
