Whakarewarewa Village
Whakarewarewa is the last living Māori village in New Zealand, where families of the Tūhourangi Ngāti Wāhiao tribe have lived for over 200 years among hot springs and geysers. Unlike other tourist attractions, this is a real community where residents cook their food in hot pools, bathe in thermal streams, and live according to ancient traditions. Guided tours offer an intimate look at daily life, traditions, and Māori spirituality. Watch the daily cultural performance at 12:30pm featuring traditional songs and the powerful Haka. Walk the self-guided geothermal trails to see bubbling mud pools and silica terraces.
