Wat Xieng Thong
The jewel of Laotian architecture, Wat Xieng Thong is the most important temple in Luang Prabang. Built in 1560 by King Setthathirat, it served as the site of royal coronations. It features a sweeping multi-tiered roof reaching almost to the ground, and stunning glass mosaics on the rear wall depicting the Tree of Life. The Red Chapel houses a gilded royal funeral carriage.
