Warsaw Rising Museum

The Warsaw Rising Museum commemorates the heroic 63-day uprising of 1944 when Polish resistance fighters fought against Nazi German occupation. Opened in 2004 on the 60th anniversary, the museum features immersive exhibits including a replica B-24 Liberator bomber, reconstructed sewers that insurgents used for movement, original artifacts, photographs, and personal testimonies. It is one of the most moving and well-designed museums in Europe.

The Warsaw Uprising (August 1 - October 2, 1944) was a major WWII operation by Polish resistance to liberate Warsaw from Nazi occupation. About 16,000 resistance fighters and 150,000-200,000 civilians died. The uprising failed and Germans destroyed 85% of the city.
