Walter Sisulu National Botanical Garden
Walter Sisulu National Botanical Garden is a 300-hectare natural oasis located in the west of Johannesburg. The highlight is the 70-meter Witpoortjie Waterfall, near which a famous pair of Verreaux's Eagles nests on the cliffs. The garden is home to over 600 plant species and approximately 240 bird species recorded on site. Multiple hiking trails offer varied experiences, from short family walks to the 5km trail leading to the waterfall's summit. Perfect for picnics, bird watching, and enjoying nature just 30 minutes from the city. Free entry for seniors on Tuesdays. The garden hosts regular events including outdoor concerts and plant sales.
