City centre can be explored in 2-3 hours: clock tower, market, Hindu temple, cathedral. With Botanical Gardens — half a day. Market best visited in the morning, especially Saturday.

Yes! This is one of the garden's main attractions. Aldabra tortoises are very friendly. Feeding leaves available at entrance or for purchase. Tortoises are over 100 years old and happily pose for photos.

Local spices: vanilla, cinnamon, curry. Fresh fish and seafood (best in morning). Exotic fruits: starfruit, jackfruit, coconuts. Souvenirs: pareos, straw hats. Try Creole snacks — fried fish, banana fritters (60-120 SCR).

Travel Tips

Useful tips for visiting Victoria

Sir Selwyn-Clarke Market best visited Saturday morning (6:00-10:00 AM) — biggest selection and atmosphere. Arrive early before heat and crowds.

Buses cheap (7-10 SCR) but infrequent and don't take large luggage. For island travel, car rental more convenient (from 50 EUR/day) or use taxis.

Seychelles is expensive. Local takeaways 60-120 SCR (4-7 EUR), restaurants 300-600 SCR. Bottled water in shops 3-4 times cheaper than in restaurants.

In 2025, Sir Selwyn-Clarke Market is under renovation. Temporarily relocated to former STC Supermarket in Victoria centre. Check current location.
