Vardzia Cave Monastery
Vardzia is a stunning 12th-century cave monastery complex carved into the cliffs of Mount Erusheti. It comprises over 600 rock-hewn chambers spread across 13 levels, including churches, living quarters, storage rooms, and secret tunnels. Built by King George III and expanded by the famous Queen Tamar. The Church of the Dormition features 12th-century frescoes that are among Georgia's most important artworks, with ongoing conservation efforts.
