The Valley of the Mills is a stunning deep gorge located directly behind Piazza Tasso containing the ruins of a 13th-century flour mill abandoned in the 1940s. The unique humid microclimate in the deep gorge created a dense jungle of ferns and moss that has completely engulfed the buildings, creating a surreal film-like scene. The valley can only be viewed from above as entry is prohibited for safety and environmental protection reasons.
