Uspenski Cathedral

Uspenski Cathedral is the largest Orthodox church in Western Europe and a stunning symbol of the Russian influence on Finnish history. Built in 1868 during Russian rule, the red-brick cathedral stands on a hillside overlooking the South Harbour. Its golden onion domes and ornate Byzantine-Slavic architecture create a striking contrast with Helsinki white Lutheran churches.
