Urique is a small, quiet village at the bottom of the deepest canyon in the Copper Canyon system at 1,879 meters depth. The winding road down is an adventure itself with over 60 hairpin turns. The subtropical climate is completely different from the cool highlands, with banana and citrus trees. The village is the starting point for the famous Urique Ultra Marathon.

From Divisadero/Barrancas, follow the unpaved road 60 km down to the canyon floor. The drive takes 2-3 hours due to extreme curves. Best option is a 4WD rental or organized tour from Creel. There is no regular public bus service.
