Uhuru Peak (5,895m) is the highest point on Mount Kilimanjaro and all of Africa. Its name means 'Freedom' in Swahili, named to celebrate Tanzania's independence in 1961. The summit push typically starts at midnight from the final camp, arriving at sunrise. The moment at the famous summit sign is the culmination of an extraordinary physical and mental challenge.
