Twin Lagoon

Twin Lagoon: Two Worlds Connected by Wonder

Where limestone walls nearly meet but not quite, where water fills the gap between almost-touching cliffs, Coron's Twin Lagoon offers something unique in Philippine tourism: the opportunity to swim from one world to another. Two lagoons, geologically connected by submerged and narrow passages, create an experience that combines adventure, natural beauty, and the simple magic of passing through stone into hidden waters beyond.

Unlike Coron's other famous destinations that reward with singular experiences—Kayangan's clarity, Barracuda's temperature layer...

₱200 (~$4 USD) per person. Entrance fee included in most group tours (₱1,500-1,800 per person all-inclusive). Private boat tours ₱2,700-3,800 depending on group size, entrance fees separate. Kayak rental ₱1,000-1,500 per day if arranged in advance from Coron town.

Best Time to Visit

November to May (dry season) for the best weather and calm seas. Visit early morning (before 9 AM) or late afternoon to avoid peak crowds and enjoy better lighting for photos. Low tide is ideal for swimming through the underwater cave passage. The thermocline effect is experienced year-round.

How to Get There

From Coron Town, join an island hopping tour (Tour A or Super Ultimate Tour include Twin Lagoon). Boat ride takes 45 minutes. Private boats can be chartered from Calamian Tourist Boat Association. To reach Coron: fly Manila to Busuanga Airport (1 hour), then van to Coron town (30-45 min, ₱150). Book kayaks in town before departure if planning to paddle.

What to Expect

Expect a 45-minute scenic boat ride through limestone-dotted seascape to reach Twin Lagoon. Upon arrival, you'll see towering karst cliffs rising from crystal-clear emerald waters. During low tide, swim through a mystical underwater passage (about 3 meters) to the second lagoon, or climb a wooden ladder over the rocks at high tide. Experience the surreal thermocline where you feel distinct warm and cold water layers while swimming. Kayaking through the lagoons offers spectacular views of the prehistoric limestone formations. The site can get crowded midday, so timing is key for a serene experience.

faq.subtitle Twin Lagoon

The thermocline at Twin Lagoon occurs where warm saltwater from the sea meets cold freshwater from underground springs. While swimming, you'll feel distinct temperature layers - the surface may be warm while deeper water is noticeably cooler (or vice versa depending on conditions). This creates a surreal sensation of swimming through different "zones" of water temperature, sometimes with a difference of several degrees within just a few feet.

Yes, but only during low tide when there's an air pocket in the passage. At low tide, the underwater opening between the two lagoons has sufficient air space (about 3 meters long) allowing you to swim through while keeping your head above water. At high tide, you would need to free dive through completely submerged passage, which is not recommended for most visitors. Alternatively, a wooden ladder allows you to climb over the rock formation at any tide. Check the tide schedule with your tour operator before visiting.
