Museum of Torture
The Museum of Torture (Museo della Tortura) in San Marino displays over 100 instruments of torture and punishment from the 16th-17th centuries. Established in 1966, this sobering museum showcases both original tools and faithful reconstructions, including the inquisitorial chair, knee splitter, guillotine, stretching bench, and various other devices used during medieval times and the Inquisition. The collection provides insight into the dark history of criminal justice and interrogation methods in Europe.
