Tolstoy House-Museum Khamovniki

The L.N. Tolstoy House-Museum in Khamovniki is the Moscow home of the great writer, where he lived with his family from 1882 to 1901. Here he wrote "Resurrection," "The Kreutzer Sonata," and other late works.

Useful tips for visiting Tolstoy House-Museum Khamovniki

The museum is open daily except Monday. Audio guide is available in several languages. It's recommended to visit on weekdays for a quiet tour.

The nearest metro station is Park Kultury. It's a 15-minute walk from the metro. You can also take a trolleybus or bus.

The authentic house where Leo Tolstoy lived with his family in winter from 1882 to 1901. The original furnishings and personal belongings of the writer have been preserved. Many famous works were written here.

You can photograph inside without flash. The beautiful wooden house and garden create an atmospheric picture. The best season for garden photos is late spring and summer.
