Toledo Cathedral
Toledo Cathedral is a masterpiece of Spanish Gothic architecture and the seat of the Archbishop of Spain. Built between 1226 and 1493 on the site of a former mosque, it features a magnificent facade, massive main altar, and famous treasury housing paintings by El Greco, Goya, and other masterpieces. The Transparente - a baroque masterwork inside - is considered one of Spain's most impressive artworks. The sacristy alone contains an extraordinary collection of Renaissance art. Free access for prayer 8-9:30am on weekdays. The Cultural Visit allows access to the main chapel, choir, cloister, and historic halls.
