Three Rondavels
The Three Rondavels are three distinctive dolomite rock peaks rising above the Blyde River Canyon, named for their resemblance to traditional African huts (rondavels). Locally known by the names of three Swazi chiefs: Magadji, Moine, and Mamalela. The viewpoint offers one of South Africa's most iconic views, with stunning panoramas of the Blyde Canyon and the dam far below. The three vegetation-covered peaks contrast beautifully with the sheer cliffs and the deep green valley. An essential stop on the Panorama Route and arguably the most photographed landscape in Mpumalanga. Best photographed in golden hour light. Local vendors sell crafts and refreshments near the viewpoint. Multiple viewing platforms allow different perspectives of this natural wonder.
