The Circus
The Circus is a stunning circle of Georgian townhouses designed by John Wood the Elder, inspired by the Roman Colosseum turned inside out. Completed in 1768, it features three tiers of columns: Doric, Ionic, and Corinthian. Its 97-meter diameter nearly matches Stonehenge. Stone acorns on the parapet reference the Druids. Famous residents included Thomas Gainsborough and William Pitt.
