The Chasm
The Chasm is a stunning geological formation where the Cleddau River has carved deep canyons and pools into rock over thousands of years. An easy 400m walk through native rainforest leads to two bridges with dramatic views of water rushing through sculpted rocks. Gravel and small rocks carried by powerful currents have scoured polished basins and swirling patterns into the stone. The area is surrounded by ancient kamahi trees draped in lichen and moss. A short but rewarding stop that showcases the power of water erosion.
