Baths of Caracalla
The Baths of Caracalla are among the largest and most impressive ancient Roman bath complexes, built in the 3rd century AD and accommodating 1,600 bathers simultaneously. The massive ruins include remains of gymnasiums, libraries, and gardens that served the ancient Romans. Mosaic floors and towering walls testify to Roman engineering and luxury. In summer, the ruins host spectacular opera performances by Teatro dell'Opera di Roma.
