Teide National Park
Teide National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2007, contains Spain's and the Atlantic's highest peak at 3,715 meters. The landscape resembles Mars with volcanic rock formations, petrified lava flows, and colors shifting from red to black to gold. Visitors can take the cable car to 3,555 meters for breathtaking panoramas encompassing neighboring Canary Islands. Reaching the actual summit requires a free permit that must be booked weeks in advance. The park is also one of the world's premier stargazing locations thanks to clear skies and minimal light pollution. Trails range from easy walks around the Caldera de las Canadas to challenging summit ascents.
