The main opera house of Catania, named after the famous local composer Vincenzo Bellini. Opened in 1890 with Bellini's opera 'Norma'. It seats 1,200 with perfect acoustics and opulent 19th-century interiors featuring velvet draperies and gilded decorations.

Vincenzo Bellini was born in Catania in 1801 and was one of the greatest Italian opera composers. His famous works include 'Norma' and 'La Sonnambula'. He died young in 1835 but his music is still performed worldwide. He is buried in Catania Cathedral.
