Teatro Amazonas
Teatro Amazonas is a legendary opera house in the heart of the Amazon rainforest, opened in 1896 during the peak of the rubber boom era. It stands as a symbol of the immense wealth that flowed into the region during that period. Building materials were imported from Europe, including Italian marble, English iron, and French painted tiles. The colorful dome made of 36,000 ceramic tiles represents the colors of the Brazilian flag. The theater still hosts musical performances and the annual Festival Amazonas de Opera today.
