Tashkent Metro
Tashkent Metro is the oldest metro in Central Asia, opened in 1977, and serves as an underground museum of Soviet architecture. Photography was forbidden until 2018 because it was a secret nuclear shelter. Each of the 50 stations has a unique design combining Soviet aesthetics with Uzbek motifs. Most beautiful stations: Kosmonavtlar (Cosmonauts) with space mosaics, Alisher Navoiy with turquoise domes, Paxtakor with green cotton plant mosaics. You can visit all stations on one ticket. A self-guided tour takes 4-5 hours covering the most impressive stations on the red and blue lines.
