Tartini Square
Tartini Square is the largest square in Piran, named after the famous composer Giuseppe Tartini who was born here in 1692. The elegant marble-paved oval square was an inner harbor until it was filled in 1894. It is surrounded by pastel-colored Venetian buildings, the Church of St. Peter, and Tartini House (the composer's birthplace). The bronze statue of Tartini has stood in the center since 1896. Cafes and restaurants line the square, making it the perfect spot to soak in the atmosphere of this charming coastal town. The square hosts markets, events, and a magical Christmas market from December to January.
