Ta Prohm
Ta Prohm, known as the 'Tomb Raider Temple,' is a majestic 12th-century Buddhist monastery built by King Jayavarman VII to honor his mother. The original name Rajavihara means 'Royal Monastery.' What makes Ta Prohm special is the dramatic interplay between nature and architecture - giant silk-cotton and strangler fig trees have grown through and around the stones over centuries. It was deliberately left in a semi-restored state to preserve its 'discovered' appearance. The temple gained worldwide fame through the 2001 film Lara Croft: Tomb Raider.
