Szentendre Main Square
The Main Square is the heart of historic Szentendre, a charming Baroque square surrounded by pastel-colored buildings dating from the 18th and 19th centuries. At its center stands a tall memorial cross erected by Serbian merchants in 1763 in gratitude for the town's survival from the plague epidemic. The square is lined with art galleries, craft shops, traditional cafes, and small museums. Szentendre is known as Hungary's artist town having attracted painters and sculptors since the early 20th century, and the creative spirit remains palpable throughout. The square serves as the perfect starting point for exploring cobblestone streets and charming narrow alleys filled with artistic treasures
