Suomenlinna Fortress

Suomenlinna is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, a sea fortress built on six islands off the coast of Helsinki. Founded in 1748 as Sveaborg by the Swedes to protect their eastern border, it later became a Russian garrison and eventually Finnish. Today it is one of Finland most popular attractions with museums, restaurants, and beautiful walking paths among historic fortifications.
