faq.subtitle Stockholm City Hall

Architect Ragnar Östberg originally planned to paint the brick walls blue, but was so impressed by the beauty of the exposed red brick that he left them unpainted. The name Blue Hall had already stuck, so it remained despite the color change.

Every December 10th (anniversary of Alfred Nobel's death), about 1,300 guests attend the Nobel Banquet in the Blue Hall after the prize ceremony. A dinner of 7 courses is served by 200 staff, followed by dancing in the Golden Hall.
