Buddhist pagoda built in 707 AD during the Tang Dynasty to store Buddhist scriptures brought from India by monk Yijing. Originally 15 stories tall, reduced to 13 after a 1556 earthquake. Located within Jianfu Temple and Xi'an Museum complex.
Free entry (3,000 tickets daily). Climbing pagoda 30-50 CNY. Xi'an Museum inside also free. Closed Tuesdays.
Less crowded than Giant Wild Goose Pagoda. Visit in morning for peaceful atmosphere. The bell ceremony at 9am is worth catching. Combine with Xi'an Museum inside.
