Skanzen Hungarian Open Air Museum
Skanzen is Hungary's largest open-air ethnographic museum, spreading across vast grounds on the outskirts of Szentendre. Founded in 1967, it features reconstructed traditional buildings from various regions of Hungary showcasing rural life across past centuries. Visitors can explore peasant houses, churches, mills, and authentic craft workshops with live demonstrations of traditional crafts such as pottery, weaving, and bread baking. A miniature railway helps navigate the expansive grounds. The museum organizes seasonal festivals including the popular St. Martin's Day Festival in November. Allow 3 to 4 hours for a complete visit to fully appreciate the scale and detail of this remarkable living museum
