Shwedagon Pagoda
Shwedagon Pagoda is Myanmar's most sacred Buddhist site, over 2,500 years old and standing 99 meters tall. The golden dome is covered in real gold plates and encrusted with 5,448 diamonds and 2,317 rubies. Four entrances provide access (south gate is main), with elevators at the southern entrance. The most magical time to visit is just before sunset when the sky transforms above the golden dome. The complex houses dozens of shrines, Buddha statues, and meditation areas. Allow at least half a day to explore this extraordinary monument that defines Yangon's skyline
