Sea Organ
The Sea Organ in Zadar is a unique architectural-art installation that plays music powered by the force of sea waves. Designed by architect Nikola Basic and opened in 2005, it consists of 35 pipes spread across 70 meters of waterfront playing 7 chords of 5 tones each. White marble steps descend toward the sea where waves push air through the pipes creating constantly changing, gentle melodies. Considered one of the most innovative public artworks in the world. The sound varies with wave intensity, with windier days producing louder, more dramatic music. Located on the western tip of Zadar's Old Town peninsula, it is the perfect spot for watching sunsets that Alfred Hitchcock famously called the most beautiful in the world
