Schlossberg
The Schlossberg (Castle Mountain) is the most iconic landmark of Graz, rising 473 meters above the historic Old Town. The castle's history spans over 1000 years, and although largely demolished in 1809, the bell tower and clock tower still stand today. The summit is accessible via the Schlossbergbahn funicular, an elevator, or by climbing 260 steps. From the top, enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of the Old Town's red rooftops, the Mur River, and the Styrian Alps. The hill features gardens, caves, restaurants, and an open-air theater. This iconic site is the heart of Graz and essential for understanding the city's rich history.
