Saint-Émilion
Saint-Émilion is a charming medieval wine village, the world's first wine region to be UNESCO-listed (1999). Located 40 km east of Bordeaux, it is famous for its steep cobblestone streets, stone houses, and the unique monolithic church carved into rock. Saint-Émilion wines are mainly Merlot and Cabernet Franc, giving them a softer, rounder taste. The region has dozens of châteaux offering tours and tastings. The village welcomes over one million visitors annually.
