Saadian Tombs
The Saadian Tombs are a hidden gem accidentally discovered in 1917 after being concealed for centuries. Dating from the 16th century, they contain the remains of about 60 members of the ruling Saadian dynasty including Sultan Ahmad al-Mansur. They feature exceptionally decorated chambers with Italian Carrara marble columns, muqarnas gilded with pure gold, and unique zellij tiles. The main chamber with twelve columns is an unparalleled masterpiece of Moroccan architecture. Peaceful gardens surround the mausoleums adding an atmosphere of tranquility and spirituality.
