Rue des Consuls
Rue des Consuls is the main artisan street in Rabat's old town with over 500 years of history. In the 17th and 18th centuries, European consulates lined this street to negotiate ransoms for European captives. Today it is the most important destination for artisan shopping in Rabat. Visitors can watch craftsmen making jewelry, leather goods, and carpets. Famous for silver filigree work, djellabas, babouches, and colorful lanterns. Prices are lower and sellers less pushy than in Marrakech.
