Royal Castle

The Royal Castle in Warsaw served as the official residence of Polish monarchs from the 16th century. Completely destroyed by Germans in 1944, it was meticulously rebuilt between 1971-1984 using original fragments and historical documentation. Today it houses a museum with royal apartments, throne rooms, the Canaletto Room with 23 original paintings of 18th-century Warsaw, and precious art collections including works by Rembrandt.
