Royal Australian Mint
The Royal Australian Mint is the sole producer of Australia's circulating coins, a working factory and Commonwealth Heritage Site. Officially opened in 1965, it produces all Australian coins plus commemorative and collectible pieces. Visitors can watch the coin-making process through viewing galleries overlooking the factory floor, explore interactive exhibitions about Australian currency history, and mint their own coin as a unique souvenir using visitor presses. Entry is free with free tours available, and the on-site shop offers excellent collector coins and gifts.
