The Romanian Athenaeum is Bucharest most prestigious concert hall and one of the most beautiful buildings in Romania. Opened in 1888 in Neoclassical style with a distinctive domed roof, it is home to the George Enescu Philharmonic Orchestra and hosts the famous George Enescu Festival. The ornate interior features a magnificent circular auditorium with 800 seats, a 70-meter fresco depicting scenes from Romanian history, gilded columns, and exceptional acoustics. The building was funded by public donations after a campaign with the slogan Give a leu for the Athenaeum and is now a symbol of Romanian cultural identity.
