Rideau Canal
The Rideau Canal is a historic 202-kilometre canal connecting Ottawa to Lake Ontario, and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Built between 1826 and 1832 as a strategic military route, it features 47 locks at 24 stations. In summer, the canal is perfect for boating and cycling along its scenic pathways. In winter, it transforms into the world's longest skating rink at 7.8 kilometres, attracting thousands of skaters daily. The Ottawa Locks beside the Château Laurier are the most famous section.
