Mont Saint-Michel Ramparts are medieval defensive fortifications surrounding the village, built to protect the island from invaders during the Hundred Years' War. The walls are open for walking and offer spectacular panoramic views of the bay and sands or sea (depending on tide). You can walk along most of the walls, passing defensive towers and old cannons. Best views are from the north tower overlooking the bay and Tombelaine island, and the west wall for sunset.

You can walk on most of the ramparts, but some sections are closed or under maintenance. The main accessible part runs from the King's Gate along the north side. Watch for narrow stairs and uneven surfaces. Not wheelchair accessible.
