Rainbow Row
Rainbow Row is a famous series of 13 colorful historic houses on East Bay Street in Charleston, one of the most photographed spots in the city. Built around 1740, these houses were used by merchants who ran their businesses on the ground floor and lived on the upper floors. The name Rainbow Row was coined after they were painted in pastel colors during restoration in the 1930s and 1940s. The houses are private residences and not open for tours.
