Radcliffe Camera
The Radcliffe Camera is the most photographed building in Oxford and an architectural icon of the city. Built between 1737-1749 to a design by James Gibbs in the English Baroque style, it now serves as a reading room for the Bodleian Library. 'Camera' means 'room' in Latin. The distinctive circular dome makes it one of the most beautiful university buildings in the world. The exterior can be viewed and photographed freely from Radcliffe Square.
