Rabat Zoo
Rabat Zoo is Morocco's largest and most modern zoo. Founded in 1973 and completely redesigned in 2012, it houses over 1,800 animals from approximately 180 species, focusing on African and Moroccan wildlife. Highlights include the Atlas lion, a rare breed that once lived in royal palaces. There are three main tours: the teaching farm, wetlands, and African savanna. The zoo participates in 22 conservation programs for endangered species, including 8 reintroduction programs for species extinct in Morocco.
